Mine! If you’ve ever raised children you have heard that word more times than once. There is something inside of the human heart that wants to clutch to the things we own and protect them from those who would plunder our riches. We want everyone to know that what’s mine is mine, so you’d better keep your hands off!
The problem is…you don’t own what you think you own. In 1 Corinthians 6, Paul wrote, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price.” Did you hear that? You don’t own you. Your body belongs to God.
Paul goes on to say, “Therefore honor God with your bodies.” Raise your hands today in worship. Use your tongue to proclaim His greatness. Use your arms to embrace the hurting and the lonely in His name. Use your legs and feet to carry the gospel to people who need Jesus. Use your hands to serve the needy in Jesus’ name. Lift your eyes to see the harvest. Honor God with your body.
