In our society, being a man is confusing. There are a number of definitions of what a “real man” is according to the world’s standards. The Bible defines a real man as one who rejects passivity, accepts responsibility, leads courageously and invests in eternity. God’s original intent for man was that he awaken each day full of passion and purpose for life. Chances are pretty good your days aren’t that way at all. If you think you’re alone in that feeling, we’ve got some good news for you? The truth is that most men are just like you! The men’s ministry of GFA wants to help you find your purpose for living and help you ignite your passion for life.
The goal of the men’s ministry at GFA is expressed in Colossians 1:28, where Paul writes, “That we may present every man complete in Christ.” What does it mean to be “complete in Christ” as a man? To be complete in Christ means that we are happy in being a man! We provide for our family, we fight for righteousness sake, we are faithful to our wife (or we keep ourselves sexually pure before marriage), and we have close male friends that encourage us in our walk with the Lord. In Proverbs 27:17 we are told, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Strong men build up other strong men. GFA men’s ministry is committed to provide discipleship opportunities for men to become more Christ-like by experiencing God’s transforming power through Bible study, prayer, and personal interaction with other men. We long to see more and more of our guys move from being men of the world to being men of the Word. We want to see more and more of our men make a spiritual impact in their families, communities, and beyond as they take the Gospel into their world, making disciples who also make disciples, all for the glory of God.
